Alfredo Aldo Carlo Luvino, egittologo, si è laureato e specializzato con Silvio Curto
con una tesi sui rapporti fra l’Egitto e la Persia achemenide nella XXVII dinastia con
particolare attenzione ai regni di Cambise e Dario I. Docente di Egittologia presso
l’Università Popolare di Torino, ha tenuto per la stessa un corso di Americanistica, (da
Teotihuacan agli Aztechi) oltre a conferenze in varie città italiane e su televisioni
locali con interventi su reti nazionali. Già collaboratore scientifico del Museo Egizio
di Torino, ha tenuto conferenze e corsi, fra gli altri, a Bergamo, Brescia, Torino, Il
Cairo. In questa università sono state fatte due tesi sui suoi libri. 

Esperantista, ha partecipato a convegni italiani e internazionali di Egittologia,
Archeologia in generale e Americanistica ed ha seguito progetti di Archeologia
sperimentale, sia con l’amico scomparso Silvano Borrelli in merito alla navigazione e
alle armi nell’Antico Egitto, sia con Osvaldo Falesiedi circa la teoria delle “culle”
impiegate per sollevare i blocchi delle piramidi per l’Associazione Imhotep, teoria
della quale si è data notizia nel volume La culla di Erodoto. Vicepresidente del Centro
Culturale Italo arabo Dar al Hikma di Torino, che si rivolge all’integrazione fra
culture diverse, ha organizzato, per lo stesso, incontri, conferenze, dibattiti e convegni
con rappresentanti della cultura italiana, europea ed islamica. Direttore editoriale di
case editrici di qualità ha viaggiato in Europa, Messico, Tibet, Nepal, Turchia,
Birmania, Cambogia, India, ha guidato numerosi viaggi di studio e di turismo in
Egitto, ha partecipato ai lavori per la pubblicazione della tomba di Paser a Dra Abu el
Naga, scavato con Manfred Bietak dell’Università di Vienna a Qantir e preso parte, con Mario Tosi ed Enrichetta Leospo, alla spedizione voluta dal Museo Egizio di Torino per ritrovare la tomba di Itj a Gebelein, già portata alla luce da Ernesto Schiaparelli agli inizi del Novecento.
E’ autore di numerosi articoli scientifici e divulgativi, nonché di romanzi ambientati
nella Valle del Nilo, Il terzo mese dell’inondazione (Torino 1991; 1996; 2005), Il
Mistero del pendaglio di Hori (Milano 1992), Ramses e l’enigma di Qadesh (Torino
1997), Tahrir nel respiro d’aurora (Torino 2012), La maledizione del cubito d’oro
(Torino 2013), Lucento e l’enigma di Cheope (Torino 2019) ed un racconto Ti ho
amata per la tua voce inserito nel volume Sette racconti per sette sere (Torino 2012).
Suo, inoltre, un romanzo legato alla Torino magica, La leggenda di Eridano (Torino
2004) i cui introiti sono stati impiegati per costruire in parte un ospedale in
Mozambico intitolato ai suoi genitori. Saggi, La signora delle stoffe. Racconti e
poesie d’amore dell’Antico Egitto (Torino 1992), Il re dei re nella terra nera. La
Persia scopre l’Egitto. Cambise e Dario faraoni (Torino 1993), Il dono del Nilo.
Introduzione alla civiltà dei faraoni (Torino 1997), Profezie e profeti. Religione,

maat. La spazialità del sacro. Una verità sulle piramidi e l’Antico Regno (Torino
2010), Erotismo e sessualità nell’antico Egitto (Torino 2015) con edizione in inglese,
Eroticism and sexuality in Ancient Egypt (Torino 2018), La religione invisibile
(Torino 2017), Nilo segreto (Torino 2018), Il sacrificio di specchio fumante. Storia,
religione e società degli Aztechi (Torino 2019). Ha scritto introduzioni a diversi
volumi (Lunga lancia figlio del bisonte, Torino 1994, Sentieri fra le nuvole, Torino
1998, La culla di Erodoto, Torino 1998…) ed ha dato vita ad una favola, Icaro per
un’altra luce, che, unita a quelle di altri venti scrittori italiani (Dacia Maraini, Bruno
Gambarotta, Lorenzo Mondo…), è stata inserita nel volume Tavolozza di favole
(Torino 1992) voluto dai Lyons Torino in favore dei bambini malati di AIDS. E’
inoltre autore di gran parte dei testi del volume Torino fra dritte vie e angoli di
storia. Da Augusta Taurinorun all’Europa (Torino 1993). Fra gli altri, suoi tre
interventi nei volumi L’anarchia del sacro (Milano 2010), Sotto il cielo della

Alfredo Aldo Carlo Luvino, Egyptologist, graduated and specialized with Silvio Curto
with a thesis on the relations between Egypt and Achaemenid Persia in the XXVII dynasty with
particular attention to the kingdoms of Cambyses and Darius I. Professor of Egyptology at
the Popular University from Turin, held a course in American
Studies (from Teotihuacan to the Aztecs) as well as lectures in various Italian cities and on
local televisions with interventions on national networks. Former scientific collaborator of the Egyptian Museum
of Turin, he has held conferences and courses, among others, in Bergamo, Brescia, Turin,
Cairo. Esperantist, participated in Italian and international Egyptology conferences,
Archeology in general and Americanistic and he followed
experimental Archeology projects , both with his
late friend Silvano Borrelli on navigation and weapons in Ancient Egypt, and with Osvaldo Falesiedi about the theory of "cradles"
used to lift the blocks of the pyramids for the Imhotep Association, the theory
of which has been given in the volume La culla di Erodoto. Vice-president of the
Italo-Arab Cultural Center Dar al Hikma in Turin, which addresses the integration of
different cultures, has organized meetings, conferences, debates and conferences for the same with representatives of Italian, European and Islamic culture. Editorial director of

quality publishing houses has traveled to Europe, Mexico, Tibet, Nepal, Turkey,
Burma, Cambodia, India, has led numerous study and tourism trips to
Egypt, has participated in the works for the publication of Paser's tomb in Dra Abu el
Naga, excavated with Manfred Bietak of the University of Vienna in Qantir and took part
in the expedition wanted by the Egyptian Museum of Turin to find the tomb of Itj in
Gebelein, already brought to light by Ernesto Schiaparelli in the early twentieth century.
